  • Name Lane\Leon Goheen
    Born 1756
    • Leon Goheen was listed first as a freeman in 1777. He would have been born approximately 21 years previous to becoming a freeman, 1756. The tax year of 1780 still listed Leon as a single freeman. In 1781-tax list of Caernarvon Township, Lancaster County Leon was listed as having taken the "oath of allegiance." In 1783 Leon had taken over the homestead according to the tax lists. In October 1792 a list of return of soldiers listed Lean Goheen as a Captain of the 7th Company under Major Zaccheus Pearsol (the Pearsol name is associated with the Bangor Church) in the 1st Battalion. In 1787 Leon was the Vestryman for the Bangor Church. In 1801 Leon assumed payment for pew number 20 in the Bangor Church in Churchtown. This was the pew of his father's. No marriage has been found for Leon. (sic)

List in 1871 shows the pew still in his name. Samuel Goheen appears as holder of pew # 20 from 1793 until 1796. Lane Goheen in 1799 and 1800, and Samuel and Edward Goheen held it in 1803. It is assumed that these Goheen's are the John Goheen family
