    • In the 1850 Census (18 Oct 1850) Joseph was 40 years old and a farmer, Elizabeth was 32; the children Amos, 10; John, 8; Mary, 7; Sarah, 5; William, 3; and Danial 1. Elizabeth Weaver age 54 was also living with them. I presume that Elizabeth was Elizabeth Myers mother, and her husband was dead. Also a George Weaver was a Laborer. My mother had always said that Joseph and Elizabeth had a son named George. This could be the reason for the information she gave to me. It is quite possible that George was Elizabeth Weavers son and Elizabeth Myers sister.

    • Letter from Mrs. Cleve Snyder to Librarian. "---- Grandfather died at the age of 50 yrs, and left her on the farm located near Boalsburg where she lived for some yrs. with her sons who tried to manage the farm. This evidently didn't work out very well and a few years later she moved to Boalsburg with the family. --- Grandmother was rather tall, and rather a large woman. ------Peace had been declared, but it hadn't gotten all over the battle field, and Uncle Amos was killed after peace had been declared. They also had called another son the (3rd one) and Grandmother wouldn't submit to this because she had already fiven two sons Uncle Amos and Uncle John. Uncle John however got home safely."

    • Obituary: The illness of grandmother Meyers which we noted in last week's issue resulted in her death at 10 o'clock a.m. the 25th inst., at the age of 74 years, 3 months, and 10 days. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Weaver, born and raised in Centre County. When quite young she concentrated herself with the Reformed church and her life has been on of an exemplary Christian lady and she died as she lived in that blessed hope. In 1838 she married Joseph Meyers, who died some 28 years ago, during this long period of widow-hood she retained her home accompanied by her oldest daughter Mary who so kindly administered to her needs. Her illness was of short duration, caused by la-grippe, stomach and heart trouble. Her demise removes another headlight of a once numerous, happy family consisting of nine sons and 3 daughters. Mrs A. V. Kline of Nittany Valley; Mrs John Hummel of Mifflin County; Wm J. and J.F. of this town, Henry F. of Alexandria; Daniel and Wesley Myers of Boalsburg; and 27 grand children morn her death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. A. Black, where her remains were laid to rest in the Boalsburg cemetery, of the 26th inst., followed by a large concourse of morning friends.
